The ornament, like art, as a symbol originated at the very dawn of the history of mankind and therefore can be considered one of the most ancient forms of man's self-expression. Especially diverse in shape, color and content ornament in Islam. Islam is a religion in which the image of living beings is prohibited, so the ornament compensated for these prohibitions. It is based on symbols and signs.

In Islamic ornament, two types are distinguished: geometric - girih and vegetable - Islimi. And here already laid the deep meaning of Islam. Girih expresses the perfection of geometric beauty and is a symbol of the Divine start. Islimi, refers to living and symbolizes the human beginning.

Girih is five geometric figures, on the basis of which the most complex geometric ornaments were created. In this ornament, you can consider squares and diamonds, five and hexagons, asterisks and triangles superimposed on each other. Girih looks like an ultra-compound mathematical grid.

Figure Islima is subordinate to the rhythm of curves having an arc shape of a circle, waves and curls. The construction of the drawing is based on the feeling of rhythm and free symmetry. Curls and plexus branches with branches and inflorescences can cross each other, but at the same time the images are flat and do not develop in depth.

Most often, Girich and Islimi are used together, thereby emphasizing the unity of the divine and living start.

Another important artistic reception in Islamic culture is to build a pattern around the point, which acts as a center organizing the entire ornamental composition. Sometimes this point is well drawn, sometimes there is empty space instead. However, the most important thing is that this center remains separate from the whole composition. In other words, the pattern of the Islamic ornament does not come into contact with its center and, accordingly, does not follow from it. At the same time, the center organizes the entire composition, but abides outside its components. Through such techniques, Islamic culture expresses the key idea - the excellence of the Divine began. Such a technique is emphasized by the fact that the Divine is not a continuation of the material world.

Another important feature is the choice of color. The main colors of the patterns: golden (yellow), blue, purple and green. Golden symbolizes fame, wealth, celebration. Blue is the color of mystical contemplation, admission to the divine essence. Purple has the meaning of the deceptivity of earthly life.
