Brazilian Embroidery (Brazilian Dimensional Embroidery) is a type of European counting embroidery embroidery, made by a special type of artificial silk threads, which were originally made only in Brazil.

Carnavals, coffee, football, since the end of the twentieth century, there are also tearful TV series - these are subjects and phenomena that are usually associated with Brazil ... But it turns out that there is also a very interesting variety of needlework, which is also called Brazilian embroidery in Brazil.

In essence, the Brazilian embroidery is one of the options for bulk embroidery (in other words, the pattern is not flat, but rather relief). In most similar techniques, threads of wool or cotton are used, and a completely different material is used in Brazilian embroidery - artificial silk, and the threads used for it are twisted counterclockwise (this is called z-shaped twisting). So that such threads in the process of work are not spinning, winding them on the needle in the process of the embroidery should in the opposite direction, that is, clockwise. Another characteristic feature of the Brazilian embroidery is the elements of the lace bearing in it.

The main theme of Brazilian embroidery is plants: flowers, stems, leaves. What are the seams apply? For example, a typical seam, representing a needle weaving: Thread wraps a needle several times, forming a loop, through which then stretch the thread, pre-stuck a needle in the fabric. It is better to gain more loops that the flower element is not loose, and the fabric was not wrinkled.

Leafs, surrounding flowers, and cupid, are usually depicted using another needle's wearing method - Brida. This means that you should pull out a loop with a length of several millimeters, to turn into it a free thread so that in such a way to keep the loop, while we wrap it with its working thread, shifting the turns to the base of the loop, and then the free thread is removed (most convenient to use as free thread of another color). Such an element - brida - does not lie on the fabric, and the slightly bend (it is precisely the pattern of relief).

Used in the Brazilian embroidery and the reception of lace-haired, which is well a sign of those who knit crochet - it's about Pico. The tissue pinches the pin, the distance between the points of the "entrance" and "exit" of which should be equal to the length of the alleged pico. The pin is choking the thread, withdraw the needle inside out, then - again on the face, then chant the pins of the needle in the opposite direction, so that the central thread crosses the pin. Thus, three threads of the base are obtained, which are intertwined from left to right, then right left, then left to right again, shifting to the base - until all the base threads are closed, then the thread is displayed on the wrong side and secure.

Of course, these are just some techniques of Brazilian embroidery - they are much more. As a result, strikingly realistic flowers, berries and even the tree are obtained. Sometimes this embroidery technique is combined with others - for example, such embossed flowers can "rise" above the embroidered stained background.

Brazilian embroidery is used even to decorate clothing - for example, in the country style.

Each needlewoman with pleasure meets with various technicians and trends of this type of art as embroidery. Various ideas and beginners, who only recently turned their attention on her needlework. Whatever it was, indifferent Brazilian embroidery will not leave anyone.

Some initially it may seem that it is practically impossible to perform a masterpiece in this style, without having skills. Special threads are used to perform work, which are twisted counterclockwise. Another feature of the thread lies in the fact that they are made of artificial silk, which is very popular in Brazil;

To embroidery was volumetric, special seams and loops are used. The latter are distinguished by the fact that due to the features of the threads are the first to wind on the needle in the direction, which is the opposite of what is used for other techniques. If this is not taken into account, the thread will be promoted, therefore, the loop will not be released as it is necessary.

To perform work, it is necessary to use needles whose length is at least 5 cm.

Many fans of the technique, according to which Brazilian embroidery is being carried out, they say that it is almost impossible to find threads used in the homeland of this style. But you can use threads with a similar composition. Some needlewomen use fine yarn or thick threads for sewing.

This flower is often the "main hero" of the work. Having learned how according to the Brazilian embroidery technique to recreate a rose, you can reproduce floral motifs in the composition.

To work, you will need:

Viscose threads;
Needle number 3;
Linen or cotton fabric.

The central part and petals of the flower are performed with seams.

We take the thread on the front side of the canvas, make a stitch called "back needle", i.e. we will spend the need from right to left almost at the same point where the thread was bred, and leave it in such a situation.

We throw the thread on the index finger of the left hand (on the back side). Now finger bend, stretch the thread and pay her finger. Around the fingers make a loop, bringing it at first under the thread, which is now in work, and then under the one that comes out of the fabric.

Now again with a thread, I will bring a loop with your finger to the tip of the needle, then throw a loop on it, tighten it and move closer to the needle outlet point.

In the same way, we recruit the rest of the loops, there must be 11 them.

The loops hold the hand and gently produce thread through them through the needle. To secure the seam, we spend the needle through the wrong way, bringing it accurately to the yield of the thread.

Next, tighten the last, fasten it. We do it carefully, so that the canvas not tightened. Roses are ready.

We continue the Brazilian embroidery, making volumetric petals of the first circle. For them, you need to take a thread, the tone of which is lighter than for the central part of the flower.

Brazilian Dimensional Embroidery should not be confused with "bulk embroidery", because It is created in it not by using auxiliary materials (beads, wire), but by combinations and layers of such decorative stitches like Couching, Woven Picot, Bullion Stitch, Cast On Stitch, Drizzle Stitch, French Knot and others.

Another fundamental difference of the "Brazilian embroidery" from all other well-known techniques is that the fact that its subject never goes beyond the framework of the plant world. The main object of this embroidery is all sorts of flowers and leaves, much less often - trees and herbs, very very rarely - small birds, and never - people, animals or inanimate objects.

Main seams:

To fulfill all the seams of "Brazilian embroidery", you need to take sewing needles of a suitable length (Milliners Needles).

Couching ("Cowching", "Sowing Sow")

The simplest seam of the Brazilian embroidery. They can embroider stems and branches. The main thread is paired along the contour of the pattern, and then small stitches (the tilt is always in the direction of the thread turn) is attached to the base.

STEM STITCH ("Sing Sow")

Working a thread with a Z-shaped weaving, embroider from left to right and always put the thread above the stitch line.

Leaf Stitch ("Embroidery of Leaves")

The main seam for embroidery leaves. For the embroidery order, see the figure, while the distance from A to B is 1/3 of the length of the sheet.

Bullion Stitch ("Twisted or Lace Stitch").

It is performed as shown in the figure. If you work the original thread with Z-shaped weaving, always perform the turns clockwise (if with S-shaped weaving, then vice versa). The width of the "winding" on the needle should be equal (if the seam will lie on the fabric) or exceed (if the seam will rise above the cloth) distance from A to V.

Cast-on Stitch ("Cast Stitch"). Embroide, as shown in the picture.

In order to achieve an air (fluffy) effect ("Loose Cast-On Stitch"), the set stitch should be performed as shown in the figure.

To perform a "typical stitch up-down", it should be rolled up the thread as shown in the picture

To perform a "double set stitch" you will need 2 threads. Secure both ends of the thread in one node. Repeat the same steps as for a simple "set stitch", only gaining volume, use alternately, right, then the left side of the thread (see the picture).

DRIZZLE STITCH.

The seam is performed perpendicularly (see Figure) and is attached only on the one hand. It differs from all other the fact that the thread is first wrapped around the needle, and then inhabited to the needle.
