The tradition of decorating houses with carved wooden platbands and other decorative elements arose in Russia not from scratch. Initially, the thread wore a cult. The ancient Slavs applied to their dwelling signs to protect the home, to ensure fertility and protection against enemies and natural elements. No wonder in stylized ornaments, it is still possible to guess signs denoting the sun, rain, women of raising hands to the sky, animals or bizarre weaving vegetation. In the future, the religious meaning of the wooden thread lost, but the tradition of attaching to various functional elements of the facade of the house artistic appearance remained so far.
In almost every village, village or city you can meet amazing patterns of wooden lace. Moreover, in various fields, you can observe completely different styles of housekeeping carvings. In the old days, in various parts of Russia, the cutters used certain types of threads and elements of the ornament.
