It is getting hotter outside the window, and residents of megacities include air conditioners on a complete coil. But on the planet there are many cities and even countries in which it is hot and stuff all year round, and residents cannot afford such a modern luxury.
In Bangladesh, people make air conditioners from plastic bottles. How to cool the room without electricity, invented the project developers called Eco-Cooler. To create such an appliance, there will be ordinary plastic bottles and a piece of cardboard. This uncomplicated design was installed in more than 25,000 Bangladesh houses, the inhabitants of which live in tin houses without electricity.
Make such a "air conditioner" is simple and quite inexpensive: on a piece of dense cardboard you need to cut holes with a diameter with a neck bottle.
Then cut off half the bottle and leave a piece with a neck, and cut off the covers with scissors.
It remains to insert bottles into the board.
Split the lids on the other side and set the design on the window so that the necks look inside the room.
The more the difference between the bottle diameter and the neck diameter, the better. Try to breathe widely open mouth to the palm - you will feel warm. And if you breathe, folding the lips into the tube, then the air will become cooler, isn't it?
Here it works the same simple principle: hot air will enter the bottles, and thanks to the narrowing in the neck it will cool down a little, and the room will become cooler. The difference is approximately 5 degrees Celsius, but for hot countries, even such a coolness is already noticeable. This is the very case when ingenious, simple, useful and accessible.
