A good high-quality leather strap for hours is not difficult to do. It is only necessary to know the main techniques of skin treatment. On the receptions and intricacies of working with the skin it will go further.
Materials
For the manufacture of the strap you will need:
- Slices of leather of different thickness;
- the cloth;
- glue;
- awl;
- chisel;
- sharp stationery knife;
- Dye for leather or wax;
- Tool for leather polishing or fine-grained sandpaper.
Step 1 . Cut two strips from pieces of leather. The width of them must fit on the clock themselves. The length of the straps must match your wrist. The length is multiplied by two, since the skin strips will be twice.
One of the strips to fold so that one side overlap the other by 2 - 3 cm. The bends of the folds are silent, it will be useful in further work.
Step 2. . The place of folding of the leather strip from the reverse side must be slightly reduced. To do this, part of the skin from the wrong side gently cut the stationery knife.
Step 3. . Remove the shape to the ends of the straps. To do not immediately cut the skin and thereby spoil it, the shape of the workpiece can draw in advance on paper and then transfer it to the skin strip.
Step 4. . To make an even groove on the edge of the strap, a small device was made in the form of a chisel, bonded by a stationery with a part of a case from the handle. The door rests on the edge and lightly pressing the entire length of the strap.
A chisel or a special roller instrument must be applied marking of the holes of the seams in the groove. In the chisel, you need to neatly knock on something hard, and the roller instrument leaves the labeling for the holes simply enhanced by pressing.
Step 5. . Cut the inside of the strap from a thick piece of leather. Attach it to the strap itself, there should be a small gap between the edge of a thick piece of the skin and labels on the strap.
A slice of thick skin stick to the strap from the inside. Do not apply a lot of glue, it can make the skin too tight. Strap completely glue, try not to stretch the skin at the same time.
Step 6. . Similarly, follow and with the second part of the strap. On the skin left in advance, cut the hole for fastening the fastener.
Step 7. . Both strap position, inserting sewn into the pre-marked holes.
Step 8. . Treat the edges of the straps. To do this, set them to the sandpaper or specially sharpened under the strap with a sharpening stone.
Step 9. . The edges of the leather straps set the dye for the skin. Instead, you can also use wax.
Step 10. . Make holes in the strap.
Secure the straps on the clock and wear them with pleasure.
