In this master class, I want to tell about how from the old beech bureau to make a new, pay special attention to the process of removal of varnish and how to do it in difficult places.
To begin with, we will examine the Bureau to the last screw. If you are afraid not to remember which item where was attached

After the analysis, you can remove the lacquer from each part separately. That later will increase the quality of painting.
For paint removal, I use Bosny washes. It penetrates the lacquer faster, and she has less consumption on m2.
We apply the composition of the brush, layer up to 5-7 mm. After applying, we are waiting for 15-20 minutes (depending on the thickness of the varnish layer). During this time, the washes penetrate the varnish, as if "Looking" it. Remove with a spatula. As can be seen in the photo, the old varnish easily leaves, evenly peeling from the tree with a homogeneous film.
If the lacquer did not reach the end, the procedure can be repeated.
This is how the surface looks like after washing. When slight divorces of cleaning residues and varnish remained on the surface of the tree, acetone joins.
We apply acetone on a rag (I use pieces of a terry towel) and remove unnecessary residues from the tree, wiping the surface along and across.
The clean and smooth surface is ready to paint.
And how to consider varnish with a carved baluster, if you do not have a lathe?
We put the baluster on the cotton fabric (I have an old sheet) weanly water acetone, wrap in this tissue. Washed acetone again so that the whole cloth was wet. After wrapped in cellophane and leave for 20 minutes.
Next, you will need a bolt, a diameter, the same with the fastening of the baluster to the base of the table. The nut is screwed into the bolt, so that it does not go deeper in the base of the baluster. It is a bolt in advance of a spinal head for fastening a bolt in a drill cartridge.
We also need a metal sponge for washing dishes.
Screw the nut into the baluster. In this case, a low-power rechargeable drill is not suitable for a screwdriver, there is a chance that it burns. Take the usual network drill more powerful. The bureau is cleaned and ready to paint. We start painting. Places in which you want to make scratch, wake with candle wax. After staining, paint from these places is easy to remove.
We paint with acrylic paint in several stages. The paint is diluted with water and applied in 3 layers. It dries each layer 1 - 1.5 hours. After drying, each layer is raised by sandpaper 320.
Details are ready for assembly. Everything is simple here, the wrenches are inserted into the grooves, pre-missing them with glue. We fasten the clamps.
We wait.
While the glue dries, we can make a handle for drawers. It will take adhesive for Potali, Paltal and some patience. Apply glue to the handle and wait 20 minutes. Gently apply Pattolia and smooth the dry brush. Remove the remnants of the sweat and the handle is ready.
Put the drawer inside velvet.
Glue drying, the bureau is collected, now we will apply wax for the brilliance and protection of the surface. We rub the wax with circular movements.
The Bureau is ready.
