How to make a casket from the old alarm clock do it yourself

Anonim

It so happened that each of my friend considers me to give me the old alarm clock. It gets most of all goods from IKEA - they are completely out of suitable for my work, since recently they have become quartz, but they did not break from it less. Initially, the alarms went together to the garbage. I left the glass from them, the rest threw out. Later, the idea came to hang them on the wall as shelves, well, and later I wanted to add functionality and souls. After all, it is interesting when you can store something in the box, hang it on the wall as a showcase, leave on the table, and this box looks like ... an ordinary alarm clock! In this article, I will tell you how to make a casket from the old alarm, with your own hands.

How to make a casket

We disassemble the alarm clock. We need only a housing with glass, legs yes horns.

Old alarm clock

Glass glue at once so that then there are no problems with its installation.

Fastening all pins to the case Standard: a thread is cut on them, they screw on the nut. The length of the protruding part inside the case of about 7 mm, which is too much to hide it all under the trim. Therefore, all excess should be cut off, leaving 2-3mm (for screwing the nut). I cut off the jewelry juggling, I am so easier.

To fix the nut and do not give it to unwind, the design should be fixed with glue. I took epoxy, it has good adhesion to metals. Usefully pour the established connection, but not higher than the level of the nut. We collect the entire case.

Crafts from watch

Since there were two alarms in my disposal, I did them in parallel. Next will go photos of the assembly stages then one, then another experimental.

While I thought about the hammer, the surroundings carried out the verdict that without him the image of the alarm was incomplete. I had to reconstruct it.

In the case there is an oblong hole that needs to be closed. I did it with the help of designer paper. Behind the glue on PVA and fix painting scotch. Hammer picked up paper and install it in the right position. From the inside I fix the position of the scotch and again pour epoxy (metal to metal).

Box from alarm clock with your own hands

Looks like a real, working. A little secret: if fixing the hammer in one of the extreme positions, then every time the alarm clock will be put on the table, it will boil.

Rear cap sticking paper and screw the iron loop. It will come in handy if the alarm clock wanted to hang on the wall.

Box do it yourself

Inside the case I increase the thickness and the inner wall of the box with the help of foamed tape and heavy paper strips.

For the upholstery of one of the alarms, I chose cotton. To give them a curvilinear surface, you will have to hear, because it does not stretch at all. Stick on a strip of fabric foamed tape. It seems that it was a heater for windows, no matter, the main thing is to be elastic. Idle the outer edge of the fabric and insert inside the glass. The second edge should be outward, but because This fabric will not give this, you need to cut the entire edge with a fringe in a step of 1.5-2Cm. After that, you can safely hide the outer edge of the upholstery, remembering the glue (I do not regret it).

Homemade casket photo

Cut the cardboard of the desired diameter for the back cover, glue it with a cloth, mounted in place. Ready.

Jewelry box

They remind me of small aquariums in which the cute hearts of things are swimming.
