All lovers of hedgehogs and masters for the manufacture of toys-animals, I think, it is known that any self-respecting Hedgehog must have a realistic back with a needle. Of course, you can buy a ready-made "correct" hedgehive mohair, but thanks to the fact that he did not get caught by me (maybe I was not looking for), I had an idea to create this small master class and share my way to create an hedge back at home.
Yes, of course, you can use the usual artificial fur of a dark color, or a plush, but this material is unlikely to transmit the realism of the surface of the hedgehog back. So, to everyone who is interested, how to make a "hedgehive mohair" at home, present this lesson.
What do we need:
1) Any artificial fur on a knitted basis with a pile height of 9-10 mm.
I, in particular, artificial nerve.
About the size of a piece is not saying, as we understand that the size piece depends on the size of your future hedgehog and its definition. :) The most reasonable thing will take a small trial piece for "not sorry to spoil."
2) PVA glue (the most common).
3) Toothbrush (unnecessary)
4) Comb with frequent teeth
5) acrylic white paint
6) Small Capacity
7) Polyethylene tablecloth or polyethylene piece.
So, we take the glue PVA, in the proportion of 3/1 mix with warm water, mix well with a solution to homogeneity.
A piece of fur laying on a flat surface, covered with polyethylene. Carefully make a dry toothbrush into the PVA solution and evenly applied on the fur in the direction of the "growth" of the pile, thoroughly combing the surface. That is, the glue should not only cover the surface, but also to impregnate the pile throughout the height. We pass a brush several times all over the surface of the fur. When the surface of the fur is completely and thoroughly treated with a solution of PVA, I give it a bit to dry.
It is important to remember that the fur does not have to dry out! The surface should remain wet, but not wet and can not be allowed to glue the villi. Just leave the fur at room temperature for 5-7 minutes.
After that, we take a comb and fake our fur "against six." The teeth must penetrate into the pile deep, to the knitted base. Do not worry and do not regret the fur, but thoroughly read the pile "against the pile", as if lifting it. At the same time, glued small pile bundles are obtained, resembling spines of a hedge back. We repeat the procedure several times to achieve uniformity and uniformity of the surface.
Now carefully, so as not to strip still wet pile, we move the fur on a warmer furnishings for drying. I have it, it's just on the battery. :) Suise! You can check the "readiness" to the touch: Well-dry fur has glued pile bundles, imitating the needles of the hedgehog, "needles" should not be overlooked and in touching.
Now the most important thing! So that our cursed fur has become the desired "hedgehive mohair", we need to work on the realism of the needles. To do this, take a toothbrush again, thoroughly washed from glue, and make it in white acrylic paint. Paint is typed on a brush in sufficient quantities, but without excess, ie, we are wetted only with a bristle. Upon top of the "needles", evenly look at the paint fur. It is important that the paint lay uniformly according to the tips of glued villi and gave the painting of the future hedge back.
Our hedgehive mohair is ready! Now he remains a little to dry and quietly wait for the hedgehog, whose back will decorate!
