I just recently discovered such a tool like Loom Knitting (LUM). Flat double I have not yet purchased, but the set of round is already in my work.
Unfortunately, LUM did not acquire popularity from our craftsons, and in vain. It is not that you can knit quickly, but what happens at the exit. The cloths are embossed, voluminous, elastic and incredibly cozy.
Lum itself is made of a mute plastic, very pleasant in his hands.
The distance between the pins 1.5 cm and the pin itself with a thickness of about 6 mm. The number of pins in the set - 44, 36, 32 and 24 (this is specifically mine, maybe others).
During knitting there is no fatigue, on the contrary, I want to constantly twist it in your hands.
On the Internet, I met attempts to create discussions on Lumama, but, as a rule, it all faded or attempts to knit on it ended very quickly and not always successfully.
I am a master of machine knitting (albeit by manual too) and therefore I know well about the importance of the selection of yarn for each tool. If the Luma knit with thin yarn, then, of course, nothing will happen. The yarn should be volumetric, from about 80 to 100m per 100g. Or already pick up in the process of work.
True, if you knit prostine, then you can knit fine yarn.
By the way, I still will first show my work on the Luma in order not to be unfounded.
These caps are characterized by quality and view from those that I knitted. I was very pleasant on my head and I could not achieve such a volume when knitted on the needles.
This is how my set looks like. For socks, I acquired a small lum - it is on the side of the photo.
And today I will show what to start and how to approach him.
Lesson 1. A set of crown. Facial loops
1. I took a rather thick yarn in 2 threads and at the same time one of them is mohair.
Leave a small tail and start knitting a loop.
2. Please note that there is a small pins on the Luma. It serves to start the reference of the loops from the beginning of the row and to secure the end of the thread.
3. Wear a loop on the pin and start typing the desired amount of loops with the help of a crout. Please note which side I do it. The loops should form from the outside of the Luma.
This is how the set is like drrut.
4. In this case, we knit yet in a circle and therefore typing the desired number of loops, we begin the opposite move. Make one more turn on the extreme pin.
5. Pick up the lower thread with a crochet and roll through the pin.
The first loop is climbing.
6. So picking up the lower threads, to penetrate all the loops until the end of the row. Pay attention to convenient groove grooves on pins. Knit easily and convenient, and the speed comes with the skill.
7. At the end of the row, we do the same else.
8. Knit the desired number of rows and get our first sample.
Note that the loops are twisted. You can also knit with a simple drawer pattern, but this technique is a bit different.
