For the manufacture of these universal chairs, we will need only a few simple tools and materials.
Original copies of these chairs in stores are very expensive. With the low cost of money you can buy such great chairs for your home.
In order for the chair with time without darkened or changed the color, you can use the Danish oil specifically designed for furniture. At first glance you may seem that you will not cope with this project. But I can assure that by following my instructions, you can easily make this chair with your own hands. Note that these chairs are quite universal and in that they do not require a lot of space.
You can very easily put them in any convenient location. These chairs will definitely become a beautiful addition to your interior.
For the manufacture of our chair, we take the following materials:
- Nails (for upholstery)
- Leather straps (however, another material, such as a braid, is suitable instead of the skin)
- 2x2 "Oak bars (they are intended for the legs of the chair)
- 1x2 "Oak Bruks for Stringers (longitudinal beams)
- Screws
- Danish oil
It is also necessary to have under the hand below the following tools:
- Saw
- Drill
- A hammer
- Sandpaper
Now that we already have all the necessary materials and tools, let's start making a chair.
1. Measure the leg height and mark it on the bars. On the example, I cut off the legs of the chair 15. Next, cut off all the bars that are designed for longitudinal beams (Stringers). So that we have a rectangular shape, I cut out four brus with a length of 18 "and four bars length 14".
2. Now, you need to drill holes for screws. For this, pocket holes are best suited with a special drill. Fix the oak bars on the desktop and drill two pocket holes on each of them in places of connection with each other (see Fig.).
3. After that, we launch all the components on a flat surface and with the help of sandpaper begin to polish the wooden bars, in order to give the smoothness of the surface. Grinding can be done at the end of the assembly, but it is much easier to make it in front of her.
After that, start assembling the chair. We take already cut and grounded finished legs and with screws are attached, to each other through pocket holes, as shown in the figure (see Fig.).
4. Here is almost everything, with your own hands is almost ready. We already have a ready-made frame, it remains only to make a braid from leather belts (see Fig. №3). I want to note that before proceeding for weaving the belts, it is recommended to cover the frame of the chair by Danish oil (see Fig. No. 4). If you do not have such an oil, it does not matter, for this purpose any other varnish is suitable for furniture. Before weave the belts, make sure the lacquer is completely dry.
5. I had short leather belts from previous projects at home, and I used them for the top of the chair. But you can make such belts from the upholstery yourself, or use seat belts. They can be found in any economic store. If there are no finished belts at hand, cut them out of solid material on long stripes, as much as it is necessary for weaving the top of the chair. With the help of hammer and nails, attach the ends of the longer belts to the chair from the bottom to do not see. Then attach the ends of shorter straps and start weave. When you finish, attach all the ends to the chair using nails (see Fig. No. 5, No. 6). It should be noted that the thickness of the belt material is key in the final form of the braid. If the belts are thick, then the distance between the straps will be wide. If the belt material is thin, respectively, the distance between them will be narrower. It will be beautiful if the straps will be closer to each other as possible.
