In anticipation of the new year, the picture is increasingly in the head: a fluffy tree, colored lights, champagne, tangerines and a fireplace ... but! Where to get a fireplace in an urban apartment? Make it with your own hands !!! It is not so difficult, as it may seem at first glance, maybe it will be a little not real, but it is warm and cozy :) before the new year's onset of the new year and you have time to make yourself the perfect new year!

Required materials and tools:

1. Extruded polystyrene foam (something like foam) - 4 plates with a thickness of 3 cm (60x120cm).

2. Adhesive universal, transparent for polystyrene, etc.

3. Self-tapping screws (2 cm and 4 cm), screwdriver / dumping.

4. Corrugated cardboard for bricks (about 2-3 medium-sized boxes).

5. Enamel acrylic white half-masted, for external and internal works, without smell (I have a 0.9 liter bank, less than half).

6. Thin white paper napkins - 1 pack.

7. Glue PVA.

8. Brush is flat, 3-4 cm wide (I have No. 35).

9. Cutter / paper knife.

Everything you need can be bought in a construction hypermarket. If you buy everything, everything (that is, you have nothing at home, neither glue, nor brushes), then no more than 1000 r.

I think the polystyrene foam is the perfect material for a similar fireplace, it is lightweight, it is easy to cut a knife, the finished fireplace is easy to transfer from place to place, it is easy to screw the screws, it is easy to glue, in contrast to the plywood or drywall, I think to work with them Man. A, this fireplace can be fully made by female hands :)

Bricks can be made from beer cardboard, then the fireplace as a whole will turn out to be more neat and even and will not need to use napkins, which will speed up the process much! In my case, I specifically made the "old brickwork".

Let's start creating a fireplace!

1. It is necessary to cut the fireplace details from polystyrene foam. Below I give a drawing of layout of parts on polystyrene plates. The same details in size: 1 and 1a, 2 and 2a, 3 and 3a, 5 and 5a, the rest in a single instance.

The detail 7 and 8 (the fireplate of the fireplace) is slightly different from what is done with me, since I did the fireplace "on the eye", without a drawing, and I left, probably 5 polystyrene plates.

2. Now you need to connect all parts using glue and screws. Unfortunately, there is no photo of the collection process, as it was late in the evening, and everything turned out very quickly :)

Connect the part 1 and 1a. It is necessary to wash the ends with glue, on the reverse side, glue the connecting bar (make from the residues, about 10 cm wide, it is not in the drawing), just to bind the parts, screw the screws. Then we attach glue and the sidelines of the sidewalls of the fireplace - parts 2 and 2a. Further, the "bottom" of the fireplace is the details 3 and 3a, first we glue and screw the part 3, and then the part 3a (if you want the fireplace to stand right to the wall, then you need to make a small SCOS in these parts for the plinth). Next, the "cover" of the fireplace is the part 4. Then, when the main frame is ready, we attach the internal arch, first we glue and screw the lateral parts 5 and 5a, then cover them with a "lid" - 6. And the final stage - we attach the back wall, first from the bottom item 7, and then put the part 8 on it - it gets up anverter and gives the design additional rigidity. Over the detail 8, in the photo, you can see a small square, it supports the cover, it is possible and without it, if you do not plan to put something hard on the fireplace :)

3. Now cut out from cardboard "Bricks", I got 16.5 x 6 cm in size. I advise you to think over the masonry and calculate the size of the bricks. Since I again made it on the "eye", and I have some kind of inconsistencies ... But in general it is not so noticeable, I hope :) I have left somewhere 100-110 pcs., Honestly, thought you need It will still cut, but enough.

4. We glue bricks to the base.

5. When all bricks are glued, you need to paint the fireplace. If I used a bright beer cardboard, then at this stage, the fireplace would be ready :) But, we continue ...

6. We glue the napkins to hide all errors, since the bricks from the corrugated cardboard with ugly cuts ... and also with the help of the napkins, the texture of plaster is created. First we apply glue PVA with a thin layer, and then stroking the semi-dry brush with the napkins, you can make several layers, since sometimes they are rushing. Thus, we glue the entire fireplace. The process on the one hand seems terribly tedious, but for some reason I like it ... the napkins are "melting", and then the striking create a pleasant texture :)

6. It turns out something :)

7. It looks like a fireplace planted with napkins:

8. Finish painting (from paint in some places the napkins bubbles, when the paint dries - everything will be smoothed)!

9. Fireplace is ready! We put the candles in the vase, and you can simply put some candles, but of course in vases is more secure. I assumed to make the fireplace only for the new year, and then take to the country, but something tells me that I needed at home, always ... :) By the way, the fireplace is very warm, such a strong warmth goes from him when candles Ground, I did not expect!
