When you say the word "fur", two epithet immediately appear - natural and artificial. Fur natural - it is the skins of rabbit, fox, foxes, minks, raccoon, beaver; And artificial fur is a synthetic fiber, in appearance resembling natural fur.
Most recently, I was caught by such a combination like a knitted fur, more precisely, I saw the Palantine in the store, made by such technology, and first did not understand: will the fur can be knitting?! It became interesting: I read, I thought - and here are the results.
Knitted fur rabbit
The idea of knitting fur (fur knitwood, fur yarn) belongs to Canadian Fashioner Field Lishman. It was she who first suggested making products not from one-piece fur shkins, but from the so-called fur yarn. Raw materials for receiving yarn are large, and most importantly, high-quality skins mink, beaver or rabbit.
Processing occurs as follows: the strips are cut out of each skirt, only not in a straight line, but on the helix; Next, the fur strip is twisted and imposed on the mesh-base of cotton or elastic material, and the base can be of different shape. It is important that the strips are not wide as very thin and very thick, therefore an acceptable size from 3 mm to 8 mm: thin strips are better obtained from very fluffy fur with a dense meter (lower layer of skins)
Lescent, Chernoburka, Raccoon, Mink, Fox, Horing, Sobol are great for the release of fur threads, because they have a long pile and a sufficiently dense torsion. But the rabbit and the sheepskin are not suitable, because at the first - a thin enemier, and the second is a short and stronger fur, which deprives the product with fluffiness. It is worth noting that Paul Lishman herself started from rabbit fur.
After cutting the strips, they are processed in a special way to get a full fur thread. First, the strip can be shoved on the drill and when sprinkling fastening on the board, periodically pulling and wetting. Secondly, it is possible to use a filament base, or a frame thread, to which a fur strip is at a certain angle. Several of the resulting threads are stitched together to obtain one long.
Due to the fact that the fur strip is tied up around the base mesh, the fur is located both outside and inside the product. At the same time, the product of knitted fur is obtained sufficiently light, and the severity of fur is not felt at all. In addition, the knitted fur canvas does not mind and preserves the form.
From knitted fur, they are made of fur coats and jackets, and hats, scarves, pellerins, boanettes, poncho, jackets, calantines. And this is not a complete list of products from knitted fur: who knows, maybe someone will want to sew pants from such an unusual material! In addition, from not very good fur pieces, you can sew homemade slippers or handbag.
And most importantly, it is an alternative to ordinary fur products to which we are already accustomed. You look, in a hundred years, our descendants will be surprised and saying: "And what, did our grandmother knit from wool? Strange she is some kind ... "
