The project "Claustrophobia" was conceived as a small study of social spaces - entrances in Mostsk residential buildings. He had to answer the question: why people so want to make a personal outward, in the social space, and transform it, based on their aesthetic tastes.
However, I confess, I did not receive the answer to this question - in the process of shooting, I realized that it was incorrectly formulated and the project was unlikely to be short-term. I came to the conclusion that you need to ask a question not about the aesthetic perception by a person around him, but about his psychological vision. And, as I thought, it is worth looking for a phobia that a person wants with its manipulations if not to win, then at least minimize.
Living in a typical home-book in Minsk and seeing these places every day, I realized that I had claustrophobic. I think I'm not alone in my fear, because, otherwise, the walls of the entrances would be clean.
The entrances of our homes are in kind of "claustophobic" spaces. Perhaps that is why our thrust is so great to enlarge them, expand, let in them light, caustic images.
So it is, or not, but the project turned out interesting. He speaks a lot about people who have decorated their entrances.
