Although at first glance, this house may seem unpretentious, in fact he is truly revolutionary.
Residence of 40 square meters. Meters and worth $ 6,800 were built from lego-like bricks made of recycled plastic, a team of four people in just five days.
When 10 years ago, Fernando Llanos thought about the construction of his own house in Kundaddigar, Colombia, he realized that the delivery of building materials from Bogota would be extremely difficult. A little reflection, the man decided to build his dwelling from plastic.
After a number of samples and mistakes, Fernando Llano met with the architect Oscar Mendez, who wrote the dissertation on the same topic, and in 2011 they founded Conceptos Plásticos together.
The innovative company managed to patent its system of bricks and columns from recycled plastic, which are connected similar to the details of LEGO, allowing to build houses up to two floors in just five days.
At the same time, instead of using new plastic for its construction elements, they decided to give a second chance of plastic, which was already in use, because it is on average for a complete decay required about 300 years.
"Working with new plastic is simple," explained Oscar Mendez by the Columbia newspaper El Tiempo, "because it has certain parameters, and for the [plastic] requires more experiments."
The main material with which the company works is coming from local processors and factories that throw tons of plastic daily. Using the extrusion process, molten plastic with additives that reduce its combustion, under pressure enters the final forms, turning into 3-kilogram bricks. The building materials thus obtained have the necessary heat-insulating, thermoacoustic and seismic properties.
Since its inception, the company has grown up to 15 employees and recently completed the construction of temporary housing for 42 families displaced as a result of armed conflicts in Colombia.
Conceptos plásticos plans to activate production globally. And this company will undoubtedly help 300 thousand dollars, which she received from The Chivas Venture - thanks to victory over 26 other international initiatives with social impact.
