I have one interesting book from the Singer series. There are advised to pass thick seams using a gasket (for example a piece of cardboard)
The beginning of the seam. To align the foot, put a gasket under it (for example, a cardboard) and scatter from the edge of the fabric.
Passing through thick seam:
1. Schedule until you reach a thick seam and the foot will not start climbing. Place the gasket from behind the paws to align it.
2. Move in a thick seam until the paw starts to descend. To align the leg, place the gasket ahead of it.
Move on until the paw is completely on the gasket. Delete the gasket and continue work.
