Linograph or how to make stamp with your own hands

Engraving is real art replication art. Stamps can also be called a kind of engraving in a minimum format. In this master class, you will learn how to make a stamp with your own hands and feel like a real engraver master. Such a stamp is suitable for printing acrylic, butter and typographic paint.

How to make stamp

Gravical cliché, which correctly call "board", is made of wood (woodcut), linoleum (linograph), metal (etching) and stone (lithograph). It is best to start with Linograviors: Linoleum is easily cut and deprived of fibers, unlike wood.

Linoleum needs to take the cheapest, smooth, without texture (or with a minimum texture) and preferably dense. You can buy a piece of special artistic linoleum for linographs at an artistic store. I love this most for its structure, but when you need to cut something in large quantities, I use the most common.

Linoleum

On linoleum you need to apply a picture. The easiest way is to redraw a pencil or handle directly on the linoleum, in a mirror reflection. But when it comes to the exact transfer of the drawing, it is better to print the layout to the desired value on the laser (the inkjet is not suitable) the printer and translate the image to the linoleum using an iron.

Attention! When you apply a drawing in this way, it is not necessary to mirror!

Ottisk

Now cut. We will pass along the contour of the ampersand by the stationery knife, and along the large plots - the shtihels, without which you can do if the work is small.

Creating a stamp

Council : If the linoleum is too soft for cutting, it can be placed in a briefer in the freezer. Conversely, if the material cuts hard, it is better to heat it on the battery or in warm water.

Cut the beak, excess the material on the edges, too, remove. We try to align the surface on large spaces.

Next we glue the linoleum to a wooden base (children's wooden cube) on good glue.

Printing your hands

Now you need to make a trial print and trim the flaws, if there are such. Also, I'm slightly running around fine-grained skin to align the surface of the stamp.

Truble ottis

You can print with conventional water-based inks or acrylic. The main thing is immediately after printing to clean the stamp from the residues of the paint in warm water (if the oil, then solvent or turbidar) and leave for a natural dryer (not on the battery!).

Using such a simple way, you can create an absolutely unique drawing.

But it is worth remembering: the more the board, the stronger you need to put pressure, so that the material absorbs the paint. Sometimes it is already impossible to make hands. For example, the prints of the size A3 on a t-shirt printed on a t-shirt with an etching machine. On the small stamps you can tap a wooden hammer to get the perfect print.
